Cat Cuddle Day 2 at University of East London May 9th 2017
May 21st, 2017
We had a fabulous day with the students at the Stratford based East London University. Barbara and other Trustees took Fly, Bertie and Hector (the Tooley ~Street Gang) along to meet all those stressed out at exam time for some therapeutic cuddling.
The cats were really laid back as were the students after their bonding sessions!
It is always a pleasure to work with Shona and thee team. More pictures to follow shortly
Cat Cuddles Day at City University
January 23rd, 2017
Barbara and the Tooley Street gang were doing their bit for the lovely students at City University last week. Everyone knows how stressful studying and sitting exams can be so a lovely cuddle with a furry purry is the purrfect stress buster!!
All of Barbara’s cats are very used to being handled and meeting new people. Bertie is often found at our fundraising events at Pets at Home Old Kent Road, Hector has been on a photoshoot with our Patron Twiggy and Fly went to a micro chipping tutorial and was queen of the day amongst all the dogs! When when Laura from the City Students Union called to see if we could support ‘Cat Cuddle Day’ Barbara was delighted to say yes and joined by ‘kitten’ a little moggy Barbara was socialising before rehoming the gang set off for a heartwarming day.
We were surprised at the amount of people who attended, and there was still a queue when sadly we had to end to give the cats (and Barbara) a rest. Here are some of the lovely students having a cuddle
Ambrose Tumbletoes two years on……..
January 16th, 2017
We get so many people who still ask us about Ambrose the little Persian who lost his eyes and survived against all the odds.
Here are the latest pictures from ‘Mum’ Olive who says that Ambrose is still the king of the castle and enjoying his ‘chillax’ time as much as every.
Whopping good News from Pets for Adoption, plus Fundraising Fun at the the Wapping shindig
June 29th, 2015
We have had the most amazing few weeks on the fundraising front. First we received the wonderful news that our application to Support Adoption for Pets had been approved. The fund is run through Pets at Home, and the sum they have given us means we have a desperately needed slush fund to support the additional costs we incur due to the special needs of the Persian breed. Due to their short noses, small jaws and very long dense coats, almost all of the cats we rescue require dental work and coat removal prior to re-homing. Even tiny kittens like Furla pictured here need these procedures, which must be carried out under general anaesthetic by our vet. This means that with chipping and vaccinations it can cost us over £300 to home each cat, which is on top of the transport costs, costs of food and litter and routine things like claw trimming that we incur as a matter of course before rehoming can begin. Thank you so much to Adoption for Pets – you have made it easier for us to make more new beginnings and happy endings possible for these beautiful, gentle and loving cats.
With more money available for cats coming in for rehoming, we have a slush fund for emergencies or very elderly cats who we cannot rehome but can make comfortable for their remaining years lived out with Barbara or our foster Mum Sue. Thank you so much Pets at Home Adoption for Pets for helping us make even more new beginnings and happy endings.
It’s Shindig time again in Wapping!!
We like to do some fundraising locally here in London and the Wapping Recycling Community Event has become an annual tradition. Trustees Jane & Keith are our dream team when it comes to EBay, Boot Fairs and anything else that involves finding, sorting and selling donated items. Alongside their brilliant volunteers and fortified by Barbara’s coffee and yummy cakes, Jane and Keith pulled out all the stops to raise over £200 – even torrential rain did not stop play.
Here’s Bertie & Barbara with Nick from Pets at Home Old Kent Road with our cheque, and Jane Keith and Barbara in their Ambrose tee- shirts ready to sell our donated items at the Wapping shindig.

Celebrating Pets at Home Old Kent Roads first birthday with cake and Bertie in his Bee coat!!
August 27th, 2014
Here we are Pets at Home Old Kent Road celebrating the stores first birthday. We are so grateful to Rachel, Nick and all the team for the fundraising and vet care they provide for us. As a small Rescue with no paid staff all our money is used to re home our rescued Persians. Thank you so much Pets at Home, not only do you offer 7 day a week vet care through Vets4Pets, you have a heart as big as your brilliant product range.
Thank YOU to Pets at Home
July 23rd, 2014
Pets at Home Old Kent Road store have raised £1300 for us this year so far! We are so grateful because now we have been able to use this money to purchase some lovely new pens for the Rescue. Whilst we let our cats have the run of the rescue in order to see how they behave with other cats in a home environment, we need safe private accommodation for shy and nervous cats, cats recovering from a visit to the Vet or mums and babies. Here is Barbara (who hates her picture being taken) with Nick the store manager receiving the cheque.
