How you can help London Persian Rescue
Our costs increase all the time with more Persians coming into rescue and ever increasing vets bills. Just to have a cat de-matted and dental checked can cost over £350 each time. We need all the support and help we can get – any amount however small is so gratefully received. WE HAVE NO PAID STAFF. EVERY PENNY OF EVERY DONATION IS SPENT ON RESCUING, REHABILITATING AND REHOMONG PERSIAN CATS. Ways of providing help to the London Persian Rescue Our work depends on your help. In addition to the donations received in the homing of cats, there are other ways to help with our rescue work, either on a one-off or regular basis: Gift Aid Under Gift Aid, charities like ours are able to claim some or all of the tax already paid by UK taxpayers on the cash that they donate. It means we can receive an extra 25% of your donation from HM Revenue & Customs, at no cost to you. If you are a higher or additional rate taxpayer, you could also be in line to receive some tax back yourself, lowering your tax bill or even netting you a refund. Simply fill in a declaration (which we will provide) in relation to your one-off or regular donations, and you will help us get even more benefit from the money you donate. How it works The assumption is that your donation has been paid out of your taxed income. A basic rate taxpayer pays 20% tax, so if you earn £100 you will end up with £80 after tax. If you donate £80 to us, we can claim back the £20 tax that you have already paid, meaning that we receive the full £100 – 25% more than you originally gave us. If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you will pay 40% tax, and hence you will only receive £60 out of the original £100 earned. However, you only have to pay basic rate tax on the money you have donated to us (because the taxman can only pass basic rate tax back to us), so in this example, if you donate £80, HM Revenue & Customs will give you back the £20 difference. This can then either come off your tax bill or, if you don’t have a tax bill, you can receive it as a refund. Similarly, if you are an additional rate taxpayer, you pay 45% tax, so you will end up with only £55 of the original £100. Again, HM Revenue & Customs will give you back the difference, this time £25. Details of this scheme can be found on the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) website Please note that the London Persian Rescue, and other charities to which you donate, will reclaim the tax on your gift(s). It will, therefore, be necessary for you to pay at least as much UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax (for the tax year in which you donate) as all the charities will reclaim. Regular Donations to the Rescue If you would like to find out how to set up a regular donation via our bank account please contact us on: firstname.lastname@example.org Give As You Earn The most popular method of payroll charitable giving in the country, the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) “Give As You Earn” scheme, helps over 3,000 companies and 400,000 staff to give nearly £80m to charity through payroll each year. It is both simple and tax efficient, allowing employees to give donations to UK registered charities, such as ours, via deductions made straight from gross pay. There is no tax for the charity to claim back as no tax was deducted. Check with your employer to see if this, or a similar scheme, is in place in your workplace. Remember, donations to the London Persian Rescue are all used for the rescue, medical attention, upkeep and homing of our rescued cats. We depend on your continued support.
