Our founder Barbara Black is a trained midwife and maternity nurse. Barbara has been nursing and loving Persians back to health for over 20 years and is a respected authority on caring for the breed. Barbara works with breeders and welfare organisations on all aspects of Persian rescue and rehabilitation. Barbara works collaboratively with Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, The Mayhew Animal Hospital, Celia Hammond Trust and Cats Protection League.
We are an independent charity funded entirely by donations, homing fees and fund raising events. We have no paid staff so every penny we raise goes towards Persian Welfare.
At London Persian Rescue we evaluate cats in a secure, loving, home environment. We get to know each cat and are able to match Persian and person so that we can create a loving lifelong match. Here you can see Barbara with Gemini our permanent pensioner, and Bertie ‘taking the air’ outside on the balcony.
We ask for a £200 donation when we re-home a cat. This helps us cover medical treatment and standard procedures like neutering and dentals which most of our rescued persians require before joining their new families.
